Welcome to the Adams County GIS map
viewer. The Adams County GIS is an interactive map viewer that allows users to see maps of Adams County, Illinois showing, property lines, addresses, photography, streets, historical information and more. This is a very user friendly program designed for the novice user. Note: Pop-ups! This website uses pop-ups to display some of the map information. Adams County recommends you disable your pop-up blocker or add it as a trusted site. You may have more than one pop up blocker installed on your system. If you have a Google or Yahoo tool bar installed, it may also have blockers. INTERACT WITH GOOGLE EARTH - We have added a button to allow you to transfer data from our web site to Google Earth. Currently the Mississippi River, Centerline and addresses are available to transfer to Google Earth (other layers will be available soon). Simply zoom to the area of interest, click the Google Earth Button (to the left of the toolboxes) and follow the directions. This will export the data to the kml file and will open Google Earth for viewing. Try using the address layer and choose address wherever it asks for a field name (you can leave the other boxes blank). When you click on an address in Google Earth, you can get directions to or from the selected address. INTERACTIVE ILLINOIS COUNTIES & MUNICIPAL WEB SITES - If you are interested in Web Sites for other counties and municipalities in Illinois, navigate to the Illinois Info folder. The Statewide map layers folder is basic layers such as roads, counties, townships, etc. From the GIS in Illinois layers you can navigate the links to the web sites for other counties & municipalities in Illinois. Don't forget that this information is also available on the ftp site for download. Scroll down for instructions on accessing the ftp site. 2007 COLOR IMAGES FOR THE ENTIRE COUNTY - We have received the 2007 Color imagery from the USDA. This is color photography that covers the entire county. It was flown in June of this year and is 1 meter resolution. You can find this photography under images. RIVER GAUGES - Are you interested in the current river stage? Look under Floodplain Information for the Corps of Engineers river gauges in Adams County. You can click a gauge at the lock & dams, Quincy Filter and Bear Creek which will link you to the Corps of Engineers website for that gauge, giving you the current river stage. FTP SITE ACCESS - For GIS users! You can now download all of the data you see on our website as shape files & Mr Sid Image files. This data is available as a public service, free of charge. To access the ftp site, go to ftp://ftp.adamscountygis.com Use website as the login and adamsgis as the password. If you do not use a ftp client such as WS FTP Pro, you may get the message "this page can not be displayed". If this happens, simply click the "go" button next to the address bar (on internet explorer) or type the ftp address in the address bar of your browser. READY TO PRINT MAPS - Also available on the ftp site are maps that have been converted to pdf files. This includes maps such as the general highway map, maps of voting districts and more. You must have adobe reader installed to read these files. To download Adobe Acrobat Reader free of charge click here. Access the ftp site as above and navigate to the directory 0050_Ready_to_print_maps. DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT OTHER ILLINOIS COUNTIES MAY HAVE GIS DATA AVAILABLE? Adam Aull, GIS manager for the City of Danville-Vermilion County Department of Public Development, GIS Division has created maps which show what counties are using GIS and he has graciously allowed us to put his maps on our FTP site.
